I’m not feeling the live-blog, partially because my wrist has been sore all weekend and for the fact that I wouldn’t know much about what I’m even typing about. There will be periodic updates however.
Glen Murray put the Bruins on the scoreboard first, scoring on the power play at 13:03. Murray corralled the puck with his glove up around his knees, dropping it down to his stick where it was bouncing and shooting the puck up over Rick DiPietro’s glove hand. The Bruins had a 1-0 after the first period.
In other Bruins news, Manny Fernandez has been diagnosed with a herniated disk in his back.
The Bruins took a 2-0 late in the second period after Islanders defenseman Andy Sutton gave the puck away to Petteri Nokelainen. The goal is the second NHL goal for Nokelainen, and his first goal as a Bruin. Nokelainen was acquired from the Islanders for Ben Walter.
Chuck Kobasew added a goal in the third period to give the Bruins a 3-0 lead.
Thomas saw the chance of his first shutout slip away when Zdeno Chara was in the penalty box for closing his hand on the puck. Chris Campoli got the puck past Thomas at 18:09. The Bruins won 3-1.
The Bruins got their first win at the Islanders for the first time since December 22, 2001. The Bruins have one more game remaining on their road trip, Wednesday in New Jersey, before the head back to the Garden to face the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday.
