Bruins vs. Flyers III

The Bruins game starts off with clips of all the Boston teams set to “It’s too late to apologize” by OneRepublic, and then narrowed down to clips of the Bruins/Flyers, including footage of Patrice Bergeron on a stretcher and Andrew Alberts lying on the ice. That’s lovely.

I have to go to work this afternoon, so I won’t be live-blogging per se (as I said I would never blog a game against the Flyers again), but I will at least recap as much as I can in the process.

Alex Auld gets the start in goal. P.J. Axelsson is out with a foot injury. Axelsson missed practice yesterday and Rob Simpson reported that his foot swelled up so much that he couldn’t get it into the skate. Bruins fans hope it’s just a bruise and it’s not broken. Chuck Kobasew is in the line-up despite missing practice yesterday. Kobasew was given the day off to rest.

First Period: Auld made a save on Knuble’s chance. Stuart went to the penalty box for hooking. After seeing the #1 power play on Thursday, the Bruins are seeing the #2 power play today. Briere got a penalty for tripping Chara at 2:52. Chara got a penalty that I missed. Reich went off limping to the locker room. Matching penalties are coming up to Ward and Hartnell (for roughing and interference, respectively). Ference goes off for holding at 9:58. I thought it was Lucic who hit Downie after he was held up. Downie went to the locker room. Carter scored on the power play to give the Flyers a 1-0 lead. Chara seems to be on a mission, hitting Hartnell left and right. Savard had the first scoring opportunity for the Bruins. Then another Bruin hit the post. The Bruins are on the power play. Lucic gets hurt behind the Flyers net. He went hard to hit Smith, and then hit his face against the dasher of the boards. It looks like a bloody nose, and hopefully no kind of head injury results from it. So for those keeping track, that’s two players in the dressing room for the Bruins and one for the Flyers. Flyers lead 1-0 after one.

No more live-blogging for me now. Lunch and preparation for work is now. Go Bruins!
