Frustrated

Bruins fans aren't the only ones who are feeling frustrated right now.

Practice was punctuated by a short fistfight between defenseman Zdeno Chara and forward Jeremy Reich. After Chara flattened Reich during a 3-on-2 drill, clipping his cheek with his stick, Reich jumped up and began swinging. Words were thrown along with the punches and teammates had to pull the two apart.

"It's all good,'' Chara said. "We're friends. It was just a tough practice; sometimes things like that happen.''

At least we're going down fighting, right?

The frustrations are understandable. The Bruins can't beat the Montreal Canadiens if their lives depended on it. They were shut out 1-0 on Tuesday. I mean, sure, that three game winning streak earlier this week seems like it was last year.

The wounded are still wounded. Andrew Alberts and Patrice Bergeron were victims of the Philadelphia Flyers. Manny Fernandez was victim to his own knee. Glen Murray looks to be the only one who could return soon, but has been listed as "indefinite" in recent days.

But at least we have Aaron Ward back on the blue line. Matt Lashoff was sent down, after a couple of less-than-great games. Vladimir Sobotka was recalled.

And at today's practice, P.J. Axelsson and Chuck Kobasew were missing. Coach Claude Julien said one could miss tomorrow's game against the Flyers.

Not to get all Debbie Downer on ya, but there's one more thing.

Chara will be the only player representing the Bruins at the All-Star game in sixteen days. Marc Savard didn't make the roster, and neither did Tim Thomas.

Savard can be understandable considering his constant whining about non-calls might be holding him back, judging only by last night's game of course. The referees will make the calls or they won't, but that's no excuse to stop skating to get your four cents in. But he deserved a spot given his points total last season and this season.

Thomas definitely deserves to go to an All-Star game at least once in his career. A lot of the time the reserves are selected based on the previous season. Although I'm starting to wonder if Thomas will ever get the recognition he really deserves.

Okay, late comment, but in general, I think an intra-squad fight is a good thing. Shows guys are hungry and wanting to win. I like it.
