Caption This: The Muzz Special

Switching it up this week, I thought this week's Caption This post would be a little bit of a tribute to former Bruins' winger Glen Murray. Murray's contract was bought out last month, ending his tenure with the Bruins.

Murray was originally drafted 18th overall by the Bruins in 1991. During the summer of 1995, he was traded from Boston to Pittsburgh. From Pittsburgh, Murray went on to play in Los Angeles where he picked up a couple of hobbies (surfing). On October 24, 2001, Boston acquired Murray in a trade where he went onto score 35 goals that season. In 2002-2003, Murray scored his career-best 44 goals.

Instead of trying to caption a photo, I thought it might be better for fans to share some of their memories of Murray.

The following are some of my own highlights that I was lucky enough to blog about. I'm sure there are plenty more within the archives and the blog and my head, but there isn't enough time to gather them all. So here are some milestones.

March 22, 2003: Murray scored his 40th and 41st goals of the season in a game against the Los Angeles Kings. One of the goals against his former team was the overtime winner. What makes that game even more special is I was in attendance in LA.

February 1, 2004: On Superbowl Sunday, Murray scored a natural hat trick in the 3rd period against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

February 10, 2004: Murray's consecutive game streak ended at 262 games because the flu won.

February 14, 2004: Murray played his 800th NHL game against the Chicago Blackhawks.

April 13, 2004: Murray scored the double overtime winner to give the Bruins a 3-1 series against the Canadiens. We all know how that series ended, but I remember blogging about that game fondly. I think that was the only prediction I ever made and documented it.

I think this is my favorite story off the ice during the 2006-2007 season. I didn't have many conversations with Murray (that I can remember), but that was the first night I felt he actually knew who I was.

To end, I selected just shy of a handful of Murray photos from the gallery. Feel free to write captions for them.

This last photo is my favorite, by far.
