As calendars turned to the month of August today, the taste of hockey is starting to get closer and closer. There are 68 days until the Bruins open the season in Colorado, and 79 until the Bruins play in Boston.
I haven't kept up with the Bruins' events of the past week or so, but I will catch up in the following nutshell.
Leaving off with the Bruins signing defenseman Dennis Wideman, they placed winger Glen Murray on waivers to buy him out. Murray went unclaimed, and the Bruins bought him out, leaving $1,383,333 on the books this season. The Bruins made a minor trade swapping Pascal Pelletier to Chicago for forward Martin St. Pierre. The Bruins finished re-signing their restricted free agents by signing St. Pierre and forward Nate Thompson on July 28th. Both St. Pierre and Thompson signed a one-year, two way contract. Then the Bruins did some promoting today and are looking for "athletic, outgoing, young women who love the game of hockey." Also new this season are the 24 game plan and 12 game plan.
This bit of news went under my radar. The Bruins will be holding five days of training camp in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
The Bruins will conduct their first two days of on-ice sessions in Boston before arriving in Halifax to play the Montreal Canadiens at Metro Centre on Mon., Sept. 22.There will be two practices on Sept. 23 (10 a.m. and 11:15 a.m.) and 24th (11 a.m. and 1 p.m.) at Cole Harbour Place.
There will be two practices at Metro Centre on Sept. 25 (10 a.m. and 11:15 a.m.) before a game against the reigning Stanley Cup-champion Detroit Red Wings. There will be two more skates at 10 a.m. and 11:15 at Metro Centre the following morning before they leave.
Start making your travel plans. Training camp opens in Boston on September 19th according to today's Herald article about Patrice Bergeron.
After reading the Bergeron article, I am so excited for this upcoming season. Words cannot possible describe what it will be like to see Bergeron on the ice in training camp, playing in the first game of the season in Colorado, and then finally stepping on the ice during his first warm-ups in Boston when the Bruins open at the TD Banknorth Garden on October 20th.
It's safe to say that the number one reason to be excited about the 2008-2009 season is Bergeron returning to the Bruins' lineup.

To answer your question Brian... Eh probably not, don't feel like it, and it depends.
