Exhibition check in

The Bruins continue their pre-season schedule tonight in Halifax playing against the Detroit Red Wings. So far this exhibition season the Bruins won one game and lost one game in overtime.

The first pre-season game was against the Montreal Canadiens and the Bruins beat them 8-3. Patrice Bergeron scored a goal and had three assists. Vladimir Sobotka and Marco Sturm scored two goals. Andrew Ference, P.J. Axelsson and Aaron Ward each scored a goal. Manny Fernandez got the start and faced 12 shots and allowed two goals. Kevin Regan took over goaltender duties for the third period.

The second pre-season game was against the Islanders. Tuukka Rask played the whole game. Wideman scored the only Bruins goal in the 2-1 overtime loss.

Six players have yet to see game action in the pre-season: Zdeno Chara, Mike Egener, Shane Hnidy, Chuck Kobasew, Martin St. Pierre, and Tim Thomas.

Thomas will be in goal tonight, with Rask dressing as the back-up. It's likely Egener and St. Pierre will get in tonight's game as well.

Chara, Kobasew and Hnidy are considered day-to-day as they're coming off rehabbing injuries or surgeries. Chara (shoulder) and Hnidy (knee) had surgeries while Kobasew had a fractured tibia last season. Coach Claude Julien wants to give the trio some time at this level of competition before getting them into a game.
