No more free tickets

Warning: The following is a Boston Red Sox related rant. If you love the Red Sox, you can skip it. Disclaimer: It's not a rant directed at the team, but at the weather.

Anytime I have chatted with my brother lately our conversation goes something like this: He says, "What's up?" I say, "Watching TV, you?" He replies, "Watching the game." Then I ask, "Are they [Red Sox] winning?"

Then comes the part where he tells me I'm not a true Red Sox fan. Well, I'm sorry. I like to watch other things on TV besides baseball. I try to pay attention to the Red Sox in July and August, but then hockey starts coming back. Hockey is my thing. Hockey is never affected by rain. I think my lack of Red Sox attention this summer comes from not attending any games this season.

With that said, I had free tickets to tonight's New York Yankees vs. Red Sox game. The last time I had free tickets to a Red Sox game was a couple years ago when my grandmother was alive. I think it was a Friday, much like today is. The weather was rainy, much like today too, with the exception of then the rain showers were more drizzly and not steady.

I didn't go to that game because of events beyond my control and because I figured the game would be postponed. No such luck. They ended up playing some, if not all, of the game.

Now today, where it's been raining since this morning and is going to rain at least until tomorrow. The Red Sox plan is to play. Are they serious?

I have come to the conclusion that it is the free tickets part that is jinxing me and the weather. Whenever I pay for my tickets, the weather is fine. So please, if you ever have a free ticket to a Red Sox game, don't think of me unless the weather is sunny.
