« Game Preview: Bruins vs. Wild | Main | Alberts traded »

Not so wild about it

I would love to be able to post a captivating recap about Saturday's game against the Minnesota Wild, but I honestly didn't see enough to comment either way.

Manny Fernandez had the start against his former team, and Phil Kessel put the Bruins on the board first. The game was tied 1-1 after the first period. Not a bad start to it at all.

Then the Wild scored three goals in the 2nd period. Two goals seemed to come in such a short amount of time that by the time I walked to the back of work and back out again, two goals were scored.

In the third period, the Bruins tried to make a comeback with Marc Savard scoring two goals in the last eight minutes. But the Bruins lost 4-3.

Winger Petteri Nokelainen filled the void now left by Chuck Kobasew and the fracture in his leg. Andrew Alberts was a healthy scratch.

The Bruins came home for a few days before they venture north to Montreal for Wednesday's game.

Kudos to a co-worker who had the Bruins on one of the channels at work over a half hour before the game, and told me the channel in advance. That might have been the best part of the game.

In a word: uneven.

The Bruins had their moments in the first and third periods, but couldn't keep sustained pressure on the Wild. Fernandez was not spectacular and let in a softie, but didn't completely collapse either.

It just wasn't a very sharp game for the Bs and they deserved to take the L.
