Bruins acquire defenseman's rights

A little transaction for your Wednesday.

The Columbus Blue Jackets have acquired a fifth round pick in the 2007 Entry Draft from the Boston Bruins in exchange for the rights to defenseman Adam McQuaid, club Interim General Manager Jim Clark announced today.

McQuaid, 20, collected nine goals and 22 assists for 31 points with 110 penalty minutes and was +7 in 65 games with the Sudbury Wolves of the Ontario Hockey League this season. He added 1-5-6 with 24 penalty minutes in 21 playoff games for the Wolves this postseason.

No announcement yet on the Bruins website, which has a spiffy new layout as well as a new link.

Just under an hour later, it has been learned that the Bruins signed McQuaid to a multi-year contract.
